Quote of the Day

"Evi says she plans to do her community service by working with the homeless in Los Angeles and developing a theater program for them." taken from an article on people.com.

WHAT?

Maybe I am missing something here, but is a theater program really what homeless people want???? How about food or job skills or counseling or??? Evi sounds crazy to me.

are you a follower?

If you read our blog, sign up as a follower! There must be more than 16 people who read this - at least I hope so! It's super easy (click the link on the right side of the page) and doesn't cost you a thing. And it makes me happy. What more could you want?

new job?

I have decided that Jared needs a new job. Accenture is great and all, but they really aren't using him to the best of his abilities. His real skills are not in "business analysis" but in commentating. My husband should be a TV or radio commentator; it would be endlessly entertaining. He is so funny when he is is commentating on the *quality* tv shows that I watch, and his banter with the radio hosts, though often offensive, is also pretty funny. So if any of you out there would like to give him a job, I promise he will perform!

Crazy Hair

The longer A's hair gets the curlier it gets....I love it!

Bath time with Aunt Kendra

Anthony loves baths and his aunt loves giving them!

Snack Time

Pasta

SuperMall

We took Anthony to the supermall this weekend so he could get out of the house and play a little bit. He loved the big toys and all of the kids running around. Since it's so close to our house I'll have to take him here when the weather is nasty so that we aren't stuck in the house all day. He also had his first cinnabon, which he LOVED. It's fun to watch as he really starts to get interested in playing with other kids.

If you don't know....

My friend Robyn and I were talking this weekend, and she mentioned that she packed up her kitchenaid mixer and put it in the garage because she was sick of the fact that when mixing you still had to scrape the sides - she felt it was easier to use a hand mixer with most things.

I am happy to share with you that there IS a solution to this problem! The SideSwipe mixer blade scrapes as you go - it's great! Don't know who originally found this (Jody, Colby, Lynda??) but Lynda gave me one for Christmas and it's so handy! Also a great gift idea for the cook who has most everything!

Tonja & Matt's Wedding

The BBH guys - these guys (plus a few not pictured) all lived together throughout college. Jared really has some wonderful friends, and it's nice they've been able to stay in contact with each other.
Jared's lover Joe, Kevin, Jared, and Doug
The rain cleared up and it was a beautiful evening.

This weekend our friends Tonja and Matt got married at the Golden Gardens Bath House in Ballard. The wedding was beautiful, the food was delicious, and we had such a great time seeing our friends from out of town. Jon and Tina to let us stay the night at their place. All the BBH got together for breakfast the next morning, and Tina made these cinnamon rolls (recipe from Macrina )that were just to die for. Grandpa and Grandma watched Anthony for us so we had a night with no baby - that doesn't happen very often!

And we are so blessed - we came home on Sunday to a napping baby boy, and Kim & Lynda had weeded and pruned the entire front yard for us - which is quite the feat given the amount of landscaping in our front yard. Thank you is all I can say - what a fabulous surprise!!! We are SO grateful!

Look Who I Found!

It was quiet in the family room so I headed in there to see what A was up to, and I found him standing on top of his big toy. He discovered how to climb! Scary and fun at the same time....Now I can't keep him away from it. He can climb back down, but he hasn't figured out how to use the slide on his own yet. Today he probably climbed up and down at least 40 times right in a row. This kid has a lot of energy!

Busy Guy

Anthony is dancing with his zebra - a new favorite pastime.

Standing

Not exactly a flattering picture of Anthony, but here you can see that he is now standing unsupported!

Strawberries

Lately in this house the food Anthony most dislikes is the evil strawberry. Typically a favorite fruit among children and adults alike. It's not the flavor that bothers him as he'll eat strawberry yogurt and strawberry ice cream. It's the texture of the fresh strawberries. He'll eat broccoli like it's the only food on the planet, but will not even choke down one bite of a strawberry.

So like any good mom, yesterday I tried to trick him. I made pancakes, which he LOVES, and then threw a couple of fresh strawberries in one. I gave him a bite of the strawberry pancake (after he'd eaten several regular pancakes) and he immediately spit it out, picked the strawberry out of the bite, and put the pancake back in his mouth. I gave him another bite of course, thinking that he'd miss the strawberry. But no, same reaction. Spit out the pancake, picked out the strawberry, and put the bite back in his mouth.

I don't think I've ever met anyone with an aversion to strawberries!

Fun New Blogs

In stumbling around on the internet this week I've found a couple of fun new blogs that you all (well mainly the ladies) might be interested in.....

girltalk.com has really fantastic (and short, which I also appreciate) devotional/advice type of posts. Encouraging, challenging and uplifting. So great to hear from four ladies who are family and Jesus oriented.

so stinkin' cute is a blog written by Brandon Cartmill's wife, Suzanne - perhaps you remember Brandon from college....it's a great collection of things she loves, and there's always something fun to read.

Enjoy!

Play Date

Luke came over for a few hours on Monday to play with his cousin. The boys are at such a great age right now. I was able to watch both of them and it was really only a little more work than it is to play with Anthony all day. So glad that I get to spend time with my little nephew. These boys are going to have so much fun together - and soon Caleb will be back which will make for even more trouble!

Finally, A use for Bisquick!!

Well I still have this whole box of bisquick left from my attempt at making biscuits. I've been trying to figure out what to do with it - throwing it away seems like such a waste, and you can't donate an opened box. So if you are like me and need a use for bisquick, there is hope. Turns out bisquick is actually great for oven fried chicken or chicken strips. I wouldn't recommend going out to buy a box solely for this purpose, but if you have it around it sure makes dinner a snap, and turns out quite crunchy oven chicken!

First Steps

We are proud parents of a little guy who is now walking! He took his first step tonight. That's it, just one. But we are very excited! It worked out perfectly that Jared and I were both at home playing with him so we both witnessed it at the same time. Our little guy is growing so fast!

Happy Easter

We can't get this guy to look at the camera for pictures any more - he is way too interested in other things.

Library

We took Anthony to the library this weekend for the first time....

New Book

Nonna gave Anthony the coolest recordable storybook for Easter - it's from hallmark, and she was able to record herself reading each page and as he turns the page it plays it back - so his Nonna can read him a book any time! What a great idea!
