The Latest Update

Last Wednesday Jared and I headed into the hospital after another fall overnight on Tuesday. My doctor checked me out and decided to induce me because the risk of falling again was great and she didn' want anything to happen to the baby. So started this crazy journey in the hospital.

After 24 hours of being induced and three hours of exhausting pushing, the doctor decided I needed a c-section. Anthony's position had moved and his head seemed a little big. At 6:04 PM on the 19th our little baby boy was born. He weighed 8 lbs, 4 0z, was 20" long and his head was 14 3/4" around (the average head size is 13 1/2"). Large heads seem to run in Jared's family....;)

After the c-section I did not regain any feeling in my legs for the rest of the evening. As the morning approached and I still had no feeling the doctors began to realize that something serious must be wrong. As many of you know, I have had numbness and tingling in my right leg since January 2008. By the time my neurologist decided I needed an MRI I was pregnant, and we were trying to wait until after the baby was born to have that done. So Friday, the day after my c-section, I went in for two different MRIs and an Evoked Potential Test. The last MRI of the day brought the devastating news. I had a tumor located on my spinal chord that had to be removed immediately if there was any hope at all of me regaining the feeling in my legs.

The good news is that the doctor was able to remove all of the tumor, and it was not inside my spinal chord but pressing up against it. It's now Monday morning and I have yet to regain the feeling in my legs. My reflexes are returning, however, and before the surger I had no reflexes at all. But I am determined that I will walk out of this hospital this week. This is not God's plan for my life. God's plan is for me to prosper and be able to walk and raise my beautiful little boy (who is absolutely perfect, by the way). Please pray for our family as we need all of the prayers we can get right now.

Baby Update

I am 39 weeks today - only one week left until Anthony's due date. We are really hoping he arrives a little bit early, as I am so tired of being pregnant. My legs are literally giving out from under me; they cannot support my weight any more and I've had two lovely falls in the past week. So ready to be done with this! At today's doctor's appointment my doctor estimates that Anthony is about 7.5 pounds right now which is average. I am 2 cm dilated and 70% effaced, could be tomorrow or it could be two weeks, the doctor really has no idea. I am still not having any regular contractions. That's the update for now....we'll keep you posted and hopefully have pictures of the sweet little boy soon! Jared and I are both so excited for him to be here!

Caleb's Birthday Party

Kaitlyn and Caleb

Our niece and nephew are in town visiting right now and we had a great time with them on Friday night! It's amazing how busy a 4 year old and a 2 year old can be - we played hide and seek, blew bubbles, drew with sidewalk chalk, colored, read books, ate dinner, made a fort, jumped on the bed, and ran around like crazy - and they were only with us for about 6 hours!

Baby Shower Pictures

Yesterday was a fun and exhausting day as all of our family and friends gathered to celebrate the pending arrival of Anthony and his cousin Lucas. Anthony is a very well loved little baby - thank you all for coming and for your generosity. Jared was "outraged" by the number of gifts we received for someone so small, but he enjoyed playing with all of the toys and putting together the big items today.
