The Latest Update

Last Wednesday Jared and I headed into the hospital after another fall overnight on Tuesday. My doctor checked me out and decided to induce me because the risk of falling again was great and she didn' want anything to happen to the baby. So started this crazy journey in the hospital.

After 24 hours of being induced and three hours of exhausting pushing, the doctor decided I needed a c-section. Anthony's position had moved and his head seemed a little big. At 6:04 PM on the 19th our little baby boy was born. He weighed 8 lbs, 4 0z, was 20" long and his head was 14 3/4" around (the average head size is 13 1/2"). Large heads seem to run in Jared's family....;)

After the c-section I did not regain any feeling in my legs for the rest of the evening. As the morning approached and I still had no feeling the doctors began to realize that something serious must be wrong. As many of you know, I have had numbness and tingling in my right leg since January 2008. By the time my neurologist decided I needed an MRI I was pregnant, and we were trying to wait until after the baby was born to have that done. So Friday, the day after my c-section, I went in for two different MRIs and an Evoked Potential Test. The last MRI of the day brought the devastating news. I had a tumor located on my spinal chord that had to be removed immediately if there was any hope at all of me regaining the feeling in my legs.

The good news is that the doctor was able to remove all of the tumor, and it was not inside my spinal chord but pressing up against it. It's now Monday morning and I have yet to regain the feeling in my legs. My reflexes are returning, however, and before the surger I had no reflexes at all. But I am determined that I will walk out of this hospital this week. This is not God's plan for my life. God's plan is for me to prosper and be able to walk and raise my beautiful little boy (who is absolutely perfect, by the way). Please pray for our family as we need all of the prayers we can get right now.
