The rumors are true...

We are trying to encourage our son to be right handed. He tends to favor his left hand, and we are trying to encourage him to use his right hand more. I'm so afraid that I won't be able to teach him how to write if he's left handed! I feel like there are things we'll need to be able to show him how to do in life, and it will be hard if he's left handed and not right like us. Is this horrible?! Maybe! Do any of you parents of left handed kids have any pointers for me?! Should we stop trying to switch him?

NO NO NO!! Lefties are awesome!! I'm a leftie raised by two righties and there weren't any problems growing up. IF he's leftie, he'll learn to just mirror what you do instead of copy. It's not a big deal. And, I am sad to say, he's too young to choose. My kids both favored their left hands when they were little. Now they both write right. So don't stress about it, mama. He'll choose what's best for him.

There is no advantage to being left-handed. Except in baseball a lefty has a one-step advantage to first base.
The world is build for right-handed people.
Jared was almost a lefty then he was "switched" and look how he turned out. Maybe you should just let Anthony do what he wants.

Lefties make good QBs.

My parents tried, but the leftiness was strong in me.

My son is left handed and I have not had any problems at all. He writes left handed but most everything else he does right handed or uses both hands for. I just let him do what's easiest for him. I being right handed, teach him how to write a letter and he writes it just fine. I don't think you have anything to worry about. I say, let him do what's natural and easiest for him.
